Ceremony

They say it takes a village to raise a child. It turns out that it also takes a village to produce a wedding and reception! Special thanks to the following people who helped make this event a wonderful celebration and amazing party:

The wedding party: 7 of 9, Chakotay, Dr. Wilson, Indiana Jones, Maverick, Lara Croft and Rogue.

Alison and Kevin were 7 of 9 and Chakotay from Star Trek: Voyager.

Ceremony led by Tricia (Guinan)

Their costumes nailed the details, including Borg hardware, Star Trek insignia and Chakotay’s tattoo.

Who needs Wedding Cake when you can have fabulous Wedding Strawberry White Chocolate pie?

Three happy couples! Kevin’s parents Bill & Julie on the left, Alison’s parents Lisa & Mike on the right.

Alison and Kevin had an amazing “unity” ceremony planned. Both of them, plus all 4 parents poured colored sand into a bottle, which they will keep.

Our amazing DJ, Scott (Tron) had us dancing and laughing all night long, with movie theme music and trivia games

The table centerpieces were all Lego scenes: Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Cars and Superheroes.

Party favors: guests went home with a selection of herbs in Popcorn Pots, featuring movie quotes.

Knitted Star Trek Bears (as Chakotay and 7 of 9) kept guard over the buffet and presided over the dessert table.

Amazing catering by Gael Stewart! Dinner was a huge — and TASTY — success, thanks to Gael and her team.

The house and yard were full of red gladiolas. Alison’s bouquet was made of fabric roses, crafted from the dress worn by both Lisa (mom) and Rosel (grandma), plus some Borg hardware.

Guests were welcomed to the ceremony by a number of papier-mâché animals (all in need of medical attention), created by Carol.

Alison and Mike surprised the crowd with a 7-minute choreographed routine to Staying Alive, Alison, Sweet Child of Mine, and Human. We had no idea there was such hidden dance talent in the family!

Guests in attendance included Guinan (who performed the ceremony), Tron (our DJ), Indiana Jones, Rogue & Wolverine (our photographer), Maverick & Goose, James Bond & M, Sean Connery (as himself), Stephanie Mangano & Tony Manero (Saturday Night Fever), Robin, several Disney Princesses and Prince Charming, Ernestine, Dr. Wilson (House), Princess Leia, Lara Croft, Dr. Doolittle, 2 Star Fleet officers, Judge Judy and her bailiff, Charlie Chaplin, Egon Spengler (Ghostbusters), all of the castaways of Gilligan’s Island, 3 members of the M*A*S*H unit, 2 SAG walk-on extras and a movie theater usher.
